Bose Review: Why This Iconic Audio Brand Lives Up to the Hype
Hey there fashion friends! If you know me, you know I‘m always on the hunt for the perfect accessories to complement my OOTDs. And when it comes to techy fashion, no brandmerges style and sound quite like Bose.
I‘ve been a loyal member of the Bose squad for years now, rocking everything from their classic QuietComfort headphones to their super chic audio sunglasses. So I figured it was about time I spilled all the tea on this iconic brand and let you in on whether Bose products are really worth their salt (and steep price tags).
In this ultimate Bose review, I‘ll take you on a deep dive through their product lineup, share some juicy intel on the company‘s history and popularity, and give you my unfiltered take on which Bose picks deserve a coveted spot in your wardrobe.
So, ready to talk all things Bose? Let‘s get into it!
Bose 101: The Deets on This Audio Dynasty
Before we get into the specific lewks, let‘s set the stage with some background on Bose. This audio powerhouse was founded way back in 1964 by some super-smart MIT dude named Amar Bose. Apparently he was Big Mad about how crappy his fancy new stereo system sounded and decided to take matters into his own hands. We love a proactive king!
Fast forward 50+ years, and Bose has blossomed into one of the biggest names in the audio game. They‘re known for always being ahead of the curve with cutting-edge designs and technology. Like, they basically invented noise-cancelling headphones as we know them. Major.
The numbers don‘t lie either. Bose rakes in over $4 billion in sales each year and has a whopping 8% share of the global audio market according to Statista. And they‘ve been named the most trusted brand in sound by Reader‘s Digest for 20 years running.
Bose gear has also been spotted on tons of A-listers over the years, from Super Bowl stars rocking their headphones in Beats by Dre-style promos to Hollywood royalty like Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence getting papped in QCs at the airport. We see you stunting, Jen!
So yeah, it‘s safe to say Bose is the real deal. But let‘s stop beating around the bush and get to the good stuff. Here‘s the 411 on their top products and how they perform IRL.
Bose‘s Greatest Hits: Headphones, Speakers & More
QuietComfort 45 Noise Cancelling Headphones
Bose‘s QuietComfort headphones are like the LBD of their product collection – a total classic that‘s always in style. I finally took the plunge and grabbed a pair of the new QC45s this year, and let me tell you, this noise cancellation is NO joke.
I‘ve been rocking them nonstop on my subway commute, and it‘s like stepping into a silent oasis away from all the grime and grumbles. 10/10 would recommend for tuning out the world in style.
And Bose didn‘t stop at top-notch noise cancellation either. These babies are also insanely comfy, even for all-day wear, thanks to their cushy padding and lightweight build. Battery life is solid too – my QC45s last for a full 24 hours on a single charge.
Expert reviews corroborate my experience too. CNET gave the QC45s a rave 8.7/10 rating, calling them "a superb noise-canceling headphone for the money" and applauding their "best-in-class" ANC. Good looks AND great performance? Sign me up.
But how do they compare to the competition? Here‘s a quick breakdown:
| Feature | Bose QC45 | Sony WH-1000XM4 | Apple AirPods Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $329 | $349 | $549 |
| Noise cancellation | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| Battery life | 24 hours | 30 hours | 20 hours |
| Comfort | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
As you can see, the QC45s more than hold their own against other top noise-cancelling cans. Plus they‘re a bit cheaper than both the Sony and Apple offerings – we love a deal!
SoundLink Revolve+ Bluetooth Speaker
On the portable speaker front, the Bose SoundLink Revolve+ has been a trusty sidekick of mine for a few years now. Don‘t be fooled by its compact size – this dynamo delivers surprisingly punchy 360-degree sound with some seriously thumping bass. It‘s been my go-to for everything from beach hangs to backyard BBQs.
Build quality gets an A+ from me too. I‘m clumsy AF and have definitely dropped this thing more than a few times, but it‘s still going strong with nary a scratch. The IPX4 water resistance is also super clutch for poolside antics – just don‘t go dunking it!
Battery life is another big win. Bose claims 16 hours of playtime and that tracks with my experience. I can‘t tell you how many times this speaker has single-handedly saved me from a dead party when the playlist runs dry.
TechRadar also gave the Revolve+ props in their review, awarding it 4.5/5 stars and calling it "one of the best one-piece portable speakers, period." Strong words from the pros!
Here‘s how the Revolve+ shakes out compared to some other popular Bluetooth speakers:
| Feature | Bose Revolve+ | JBL Charge 5 | UE BOOM 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $329 | $179 | $149 |
| Audio quality | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| Battery life | 16 hours | 20 hours | 15 hours |
| Durability | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
The Revolve+ definitely has the edge in overall sound quality, but it‘s a bit spendy compared to competitors. I think it‘s worth splurging for though, especially if you‘re serious about your tunes!
Frames Audio Sunglasses
When Bose first dropped their Frames audio sunglasses in 2018, I was hella skeptical. Like, aren‘t sunglasses supposed to just look cute and block the sun? But in the name of fashion science, I decided to give the new-gen Soprano style a spin this summer and I gotta admit, I was pretty impressed!
Don‘t get me wrong, you‘re not gonna get the same oomph and immersion from these that you would from actual headphones or earbuds. But the open-ear audio is still surprisingly crisp and full. I love being able to blast my Beyoncé remixes while still hearing ambient noise and chatting with friends.
And can we talk about how sleek these sunnies are?! The cat-eye Sopranos pair perfectly with my vintage sundresses and add an instant cool-girl flair to any ‘fit. I‘ve gotten so many compliments and "wait, are those BOSE?!" double-takes when rocking them around town.
Sadly there aren‘t a ton of other audio glasses on the market to compare these to yet. Razer and Amazon have some but the reviews are pretty meh. Fingers crossed more fashion brands hop on the smart sunnies bandwagon soon so I can add to my collection!
Are Bose Products Worth It? My 2 Cents
Soooo, the million dollar question: is Bose actually worth shelling out the big bucks for? Honestly, it depends on your priorities and budget, but for me, the answer is a hard yes.
I think what sets Bose apart from a lot of other audio brands is their legit commitment to innovation. Like, they‘ve got a whole army of sound scientists and engineers constantly cooking up new ways to tickle our eardrums. And that dedication shows in the quality and performance of their products across the board.
Sure, Bose gear ain‘t cheap – you could easily spring for 2 or 3 JBL or Anker speakers for the price of a single SoundLink. But if you want the best of the best in terms of sound, comfort, and style, I really do think Bose can‘t be beat.
Another big selling point for me is Bose‘s customer experience. They‘ve got ultra flexible return policies, expedited repairs, and responsive support staff that actually seem to know their stuff. For pricier investment pieces, that extra assurance is huge.
So if you‘re an audio junkie or fashion maven who can swing the sticker price, I 1000% recommend giving Bose a go. No, they‘re not paying me to say this – I just genuinely love and believe in their products and think more people deserve to have their minds (and ears) blown, ya know?
TL;DR
OK, so this Bose review ended up being hella long – thanks for sticking with me and letting me word vomit about my fave audio flex. Here‘s the SparkNotes version for my ADHD peeps:
- Bose is a legit legend in the audio world with a 57-year track record of slick sound innovation
- Their noise-cancelling headphones (like the QuietComfort line) are god tier for zoning out in style
- Portable speakers like the SoundLink pack power, durability & sick battery life
- Audio sunglasses are the next big thing & Bose Frames are a solid first foray
- Bose products are an investment but SO worth it for premium sound & style IMHO
That‘s it, that‘s the tea! Let me know in the comments if you‘ve tried any epic Bose gadgets lately – I‘m always in the market to expand my collection. And be sure to check back soon for more audio accessory deep-dives and fashionable tech content. Until next time, byeeee!
