Each and Every Deodorant Review: My Honest Take on This Buzzy Natural Brand

Hey there, natural beauty lovers! If you‘re like me, you‘re always on the hunt for clean, safe personal care products that actually get the job done. So when I started seeing Each & Every natural deodorant all over my social media a few months ago, I knew I had to put it to the test. I‘ve been using natural deo for years but I‘m admittedly super picky – I need something that smells amazing, feels great on my sensitive skin, and (most importantly) keeps me fresh through long days running around the city.

I‘m excited to finally share my in-depth review of Each & Every after testing every scent (yes, even the unscented!) and roping my husband and bestie into trying them too. I‘ll give you the lowdown on the ingredients, my thoughts on each scent, how they performed over time, and how they stack up to other natural brands I‘ve used. Plus, I got the scoop straight from the founders on what makes Each & Every special.

But first, let‘s cover the basics. Each & Every was started by two former beauty execs, Lauren Lovelady and Mikah Coffindaffer, who were fed up with the lack of truly clean, effective deodorants on the market. Lauren, who used to work on brands like Secret and Old Spice, and Mikah, a product developer and resident scientist, put their heads together to create a line of elevated natural deodorants that checked all the boxes: vegan, cruelty-free, baking soda-free, aluminum-free, and gender-neutral.

"We saw a huge white space in the market for natural deodorants that were completely clean and actually worked," Lauren told me. "So many brands claim to be ‘natural‘ but still use synthetic fragrances or sneaky ingredients. We wanted to create something totally transparent with carefully-sourced, safe ingredients. And of course, the performance had to be there."

Spoiler alert: the performance is definitely there. But more on that in a minute. Let‘s talk ingredients.

What‘s Inside Each & Every Deodorants

I‘m a big believer in reading the fine print on labels, so I always appreciate when a brand makes it easy to understand exactly what‘s in their products. Each & Every lists every ingredient along with its EWG safety rating and source on their website. Here‘s the breakdown:

Ingredient Source EWG Rating Purpose
Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil Coconut 1 Moisturizing, odor-neutralizing
Organic Maranta Arundinacea (Arrowroot) Powder Arrowroot plant 1 Absorbs moisture
Organic Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride Coconut 1 Moisturizing
Organic Zea Mays (Corn) Starch Corn 1 Absorbs moisture
Magnesium Hydroxide Brine 1 Raises pH to prevent odor
Organic Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter Shea tree 1 Nourishing, moisturizing
Organic Tapioca Starch Cassava plant 1 Absorbs moisture
Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil Jojoba plant 1 Moisturizing
Natural Bacillus Ferment Bacteria 1 Odor-neutralizing probiotic
Tocopherol (Vitamin E) Soybean 1 Antioxidant
Organic Candelilla Cera Candelilla plant 1 Texture

As you can see, everything scores a super safe 1 on the EWG Skin Deep database. The only other ingredients are the essential oil blends that give each scent its unique fragrance. But more on those in a sec.

I love that there‘s no aluminum, parabens, baking soda, synthetic fragrances, or any other questionable chemicals in these. Just simple ingredients straight from nature, expertly combined to beat odor and keep you feeling fresh.

Putting Each & Every Scents to the Test

Now for the fun part: trying all the scents! Each & Every currently offers six essential oil-based scents, plus an unscented version. They sent me the complete set to test drive.

Here are my thoughts on each one:

🍋 Citrus & Vetiver

This one was love at first sniff for me. It‘s got a perfect balance of bright, energizing citrus and cool, earthy vetiver. It‘s fresh without being overpowering. I found myself reaching for this one on early mornings when I needed a little wake-up boost.

🌿 Lavender & Lemon

I‘m normally not big on lavender (it reminds me of my grandma tbh) but this blend is chef‘s kiss. The lemon adds a nice zing that makes the lavender more modern and unisex. It‘s calming and spa-like, perfect before bed or stressful days.

🥥 Coconut & Lime

This one smells like a beach vacation in a tube. The coconut and lime are both present and nostalgic without being too sunscreen-y or artificial. It‘s a great everyday scent, especially in the summer.

🌲 Cedar & Vanilla

This woodsy, subtly sweet scent gives me cozy cabin vibes. It‘s warm and inviting, a great choice for fall and winter. My husband stole this one from me and it smells SO good on him.

🌹 Rose & Geranium

Floral lovers, this one‘s for you! It‘s a beautiful blend of rose and geranium that‘s romantic and a little vintage. It‘s definitely floral but not heavy or cloying. I felt ultra-feminine wearing this one.

🧂 Unscented

Don‘t sleep on the unscented! If you‘re sensitive to scent or just want something totally neutral, this one is clutch. It‘s got all the same odor-busting power as the scents, just without any essential oils. I keep one of these minis in my gym bag.

I was honestly impressed by all of the scents. They smell high-end and complex, not artificial or overly simplistic like some natural deodorants I‘ve tried. You can tell a lot of thought went into these blends. Lauren told me they worked with a perfumer and went through countless iterations to nail each scent profile.

"We wanted the scents to be universally appealing and elevating but still unique to us," she said. "It was important that they smelled great but not overwhelming. We also prioritized essential oils that had odor-neutralizing properties, like lemon and lavender."

The Results: Does Each & Every Really Work?

Okay, so they smell good and they‘re made with safe ingredients. But the million dollar question is…do they actually keep you smelling fresh? I put Each & Every through a full month of testing to find out.

I started with the Citrus & Vetiver, applying 2-3 swipes in the morning after my shower. The first thing I noticed was the texture – it glides on super smooth without feeling sticky or gritty. The scent was noticeable but not overpowering. Fast forward to the end of the day (which included a 2-mile walk to a meeting on a 90-degree day) and I tentatively did a sniff check. To my delight, I smelled fresh and clean, with no hint of BO. Just a light lingering citrus scent.

I continued this testing process with each of the scents over the next few weeks. The results were consistent – Each & Every kept me odor-free through workouts, heatwaves, stressful presentations, and dance parties. Even my husband, who is a sweaty dude, was impressed. The Cedar & Vanilla stood up to his CrossFit workouts and 12-hour shifts. My best friend, who has been using natural deo for a decade, is now a convert to the Coconut & Lime.

Part of what makes Each & Every so effective is their unique formula. Baking soda is a common ingredient in natural deodorants because it‘s highly effective at absorbing odor. But it can also be irritating for a lot of people, myself included. Each & Every uses magnesium and arrowroot powder to control odor and moisture without the irritation. Dead Sea salt also helps combat odor-causing bacteria.

"Our whole philosophy was not just replacing conventional antiperspirants with natural alternatives, but really elevating the entire product," Mikah explained. "We didn‘t want people to have to compromise on clean ingredients, scent, or performance."

I also want to note that any natural deodorant has an adjustment period when you first make the switch from antiperspirants. It can take your body a few weeks to regain its natural equilibrium and flush out the aluminum and other toxins that have been plugging your pores. During this detox period, you might notice some extra odor and moisture. This is totally normal and Each & Every has a great blog post on how to speed up the detox process with things like clay masks and dry brushing.

I‘ve found that applying a thin layer consistently every day helps keep odor at bay during the transition phase. After about two weeks, my pits were fully adjusted and Each & Every kept me fresh all day.

The Each & Every Difference

So what sets Each & Every apart from other natural deodorants on the market? First and foremost, their commitment to totally clean, safe, and responsible ingredients. Everything is not only free of aluminum and baking soda, but also parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, and cruelty. Many other "natural" brands still use some synthetic fragrances or preservatives.

The texture and scents are also a cut above the rest in my opinion. Each & Every is silky smooth, never sticky, and the essential oil blends are complex and long-lasting. Some other natural deos I‘ve tried have felt grainy or greasy and had one-note scents that faded quickly.

I also love that Each & Every uses sustainable, carbon-negative packaging made from sugarcane. The deodorant tubes are a little bigger than some other brands, which means they last longer. I‘ve been using my Citrus & Vetiver daily for a month and there‘s still a ton of product left.

Finally, I appreciate that Each & Every isn‘t just hopping on the natural bandwagon to make a buck. They have been committed to clean, safe products from the start and it shows in their formulas and transparency. This is a small, indie brand that is walking the walk.

"Our goal was never to be the biggest natural deodorant brand," Lauren said. "We wanted to be the cleanest, the most transparent, the most inclusive, and the most effective."

The Bottom Line

If you couldn‘t tell, I‘m a huge fan of Each & Every. After trying nearly every natural deodorant under the sun, I‘ve finally found my holy grail. Not only do they smell fantastic and keep me fresh all day, but I feel good about the ingredients I‘m putting on my body. No sketchy chemicals, no irritation, just safe and natural odor protection.

I love that I can share them with my husband and friends regardless of gender thanks to the neutral packaging and scents. I also feel good supporting a small, woman-owned business that prioritizes sustainability and transparency.

At $15 per tube, they‘re definitely pricier than drugstore deodorants, but in my opinion totally worth it. You can also save 15% by signing up for a subscription, which I‘ve found to be super convenient. If you‘re on the fence, I highly recommend starting with the mini set which lets you try all the scents before committing to a full-size tube.

The biggest tip I can give if you‘re new to natural deodorant is to be patient with your body during the initial detox period and apply consistently. Once you‘re through the transition, you‘ll be amazed at how fresh you feel with just plants and minerals doing the heavy lifting.

Thank you to Each & Every for making my natural deo dreams come true and for being a shining example of clean beauty done right. If you‘re looking to make the switch, I can‘t recommend them enough.
