If you‘re on the hunt for the perfect pair of underwear, you‘ve likely come across MeUndies – the internet-famous brand known for its super-soft fabric and bold, eye-catching designs. With a massive social media following and a subscription model that delivers new undies to your door each month, MeUndies has built up a loyal fan base obsessed with their products.
But with prices starting at $16 per pair (for members), these skivvies don‘t come cheap. As someone always looking for the best in comfort and quality, I decided to see what all the hype was about and try MeUndies for myself. I also dove into thousands of customer reviews to see if these undies are really worth their premium price tag.
In this in-depth MeUndies review, I‘ll give you the full scoop on their underwear and loungewear for women and men. I‘ll cover the material and fabrics, fit and sizing, print and color options, and my honest opinion on whether MeUndies live up to the hype. Let‘s get into it!
About MeUndies
Founded in 2011 by entrepreneurs Jonathan Shokrian and Barak Diskin, MeUndies is a direct-to-consumer underwear and basics brand headquartered in Los Angeles. The brand started with the simple mission to make the world‘s most comfortable underwear.
Over the last decade, MeUndies has grown into a booming business – amassing over 89,000 5-star reviews and selling more than 10 million pairs of underwear to date. The brand is credited with popularizing the online underwear subscription model, which allows customers to get a new pair delivered monthly at a discounted price.
In addition to a thriving ecommerce store, MeUndies also has two retail locations in Los Angeles, with plans to expand their physical footprint in the future. The brand has also built a massive online community of over 500,000 social media followers and frequently collaborates with influencers and celebrities.
MeUndies goes beyond just making comfy undies – they also champion important social causes. To date, the brand has donated over $500,000 to organizations supporting the LGBTQ+ community, women‘s rights, and racial equality.
MeUndies Product Overview
While they started with just men‘s and women‘s underwear, MeUndies now offers a full range of basic essentials, including bralettes, socks, loungewear and sleepwear. Sizes range from XS-4XL, making their products accessible to many body types.
Some of their most popular items include:
- Men‘s and women‘s underwear in 5 styles – boxer brief, trunk, bikini, boyshort, thong
- Bralettes for women in triangle, U-back and T-back styles
- No-show, ankle and crew socks made from Supima cotton
- Lounge pants and shorts in relaxed and tailored fits
- Onesies for men and women in fleece and their signature MicroModal
MeUndies adds new items, colors and exclusive patterns to their collection monthly. At any given time, there are dozens of fun prints to choose from like dinosaurs, pinatas, sloths, astronauts and seasonal/holiday designs.
Every month, the brand releases multiple limited-edition prints that are only available to members and often sell out quickly. Past favorites included a cheeky "Slice Slice Baby" pizza print and an adorable monster face pattern.
The MicroModal Magic
MeUndies prides itself on using sustainable, natural materials in its products. The foundational fabric in their underwear and loungewear is MicroModal – a fiber made from beechwood trees that is 3X softer than cotton.
Lenzing MicroModal is the high-end version used by MeUndies. It‘s harvested from Austrian beechwood forests in an eco-friendly, closed loop process. The material is lightweight, breathable and naturally anti-bacterial.
I found the MicroModal to be incredibly soft and silky against my skin. Even after multiple washes, it retained its smoothness without any pilling or stretching out. The fabric felt slightly cool to the touch and did a great job at moisture-wicking.
One thing to note is that modal can shrink in the wash, so it‘s important to follow the care instructions and wash your MeUndies on a delicate cycle in cold water. I recommend hang drying them to preserve the fabric‘s integrity.
The Fit Test
For underwear, getting the right fit is key. Too tight and you‘ll be constantly adjusting, too loose and you risk bunching and sagging. I ordered a few different underwear styles in my usual size medium, which is a 6-8 in most brands.
I started with the bikini, which is described as having a "standard rise and medium butt coverage." The fit was snug but not restrictive, and didn‘t dig into my hips at all thanks to the super stretchy waistband. The butt coverage was perfect – not a thong but more cheeky than a brief.
The boyshort had a slightly higher rise and more square cut on the leg. I loved how smooth the seamless edges laid under clothing. It felt like a second skin!
For the men‘s, my husband tried the boxer briefs and trunks. He appreciated the wide luxe waistband and stretchy MicroModal material that moved with him. The boxer briefs hit at mid thigh and had ample room in the pouch. He preferred the slightly shorter trunk style for a more tailored look under pants.
We both agreed that MeUndies had some of the softest, most pleasant feeling underwear we‘d tried. They did run a bit snug, especially in the bralettes, so I‘d recommend sizing up if you‘re between sizes. Luckily, MeUndies offers free exchanges within 90 days.
Quality Check
At $16-24 for a single pair of undies ($14-18 for members), I had high expectations for the quality and durability of MeUndies. Overall, their products met the mark.
The stitching and seams on the underwear were all even and secure with no loose threads. I gave them a good stretch and they bounced right back into shape without warping. After several washes, they maintained their softness and vibrant color.
Comparing them side-by-side to cheaper mall brand underwear, the difference in construction was definitely noticeable. MeUndies just felt sturdier and more substantial, while still being lightweight.
The top-notch Lenzing MicroModal is really the star of the show. It elevates basic undies to a luxury experience that I could happily lounge in all day. The naturally anti-microbial properties also help reduce odor, which is a major bonus in my book.
Fun, Funky Prints Galore
One thing that sets MeUndies apart is their huge array of colorful prints and patterns. They release 3-5 new limited edition designs each month featuring everything from florals and tie-dye to pop culture references and quirky illustrations. There‘s truly something for every style.
If you prefer to keep things classic, MeUndies also has you covered with a range of solid colors like black, navy, grey, olive and millennial pink. I love that you can get their undies in neutrals or make a bold statement with their adventurous prints.
As someone drawn to fun fashion, I was in print heaven! Some of my favorites were the star map print, sliced kiwis and "Chili Town" toile featuring tiny chili peppers and sombreros. The whimsical designs add a little personality and playfulness to your underwear drawer.
I also appreciate that MeUndies gives you the option to buy a single pair or stock up with multi-packs. The prints are thoughtfully curated into packs of 3, 6 or 10 at a slight discount. You can go with all one print or a variety of complementary patterns.
Matching with your partner is made easy too with MeUndies‘ "MatchMe" sets. It‘s a cute gift idea for weddings, anniversaries or just because. I‘d love to see more mommy-and-me options in the future!
Is the MeUndies Membership Worth It?
A big draw of MeUndies is their subscription membership model. For those who want to build an underwear wardrobe, the membership unlocks monthly deliveries, exclusive prints and discounted pricing.
Here‘s how it works: You choose your style and size, then MeUndies will send you one pair per month at the member price (about 30% off retail). You can easily skip months or cancel anytime, giving you flexibility.
Members also get first dibs on new prints each month, access to the print archive and free shipping on all orders over $50. If you find yourself constantly needing to restock basics, the cost savings and convenience may be worthwhile.
However, if you just want to try out a few pairs first, you can absolutely order from MeUndies without a membership. Standard 3-packs are about $15 more than the member price, while individual pairs are $2-4 more each.
Single pairs are a great option if you want to experiment with different styles and prints before committing to a full pack. You may just fall in love and end up wanting to subscribe anyway!
The Verdict
After thoroughly testing several styles myself and scouring hundreds of customer reviews online, I feel confident in recommending MeUndies to anyone seeking an upgrade to their underwear game.
The quality construction, super soft MicroModal fabric and fun prints make them a step above your average undies. At $16+ per pair, they are pricey, but most reviewers (myself included) felt they were absolutely worth the splurge.
Comfort-wise, MeUndies knocks it out of the park. The smooth, stretchy material is a dream to wear and doesn‘t roll, bunch or cause visible panty lines under clothing. They wash and wear exceptionally well and should last much longer than cheap throw-away intimates.
I also love MeUndies‘ commitment to size inclusivity and using sustainable, eco-friendly materials. Their products not only make you look and feel good, but you can feel good about supporting the brand‘s values.
My only callout is that the price can be prohibitive, especially for a multi-pack. While the membership offers great perks, it‘s still $50/month for one pair of undies. MeUndies does have occasional sitewide sales that help with the cost.
All in all, if you appreciate small luxuries and believe great underwear is the foundation of any wardrobe, I say treat yourself to some MeUndies! With their stellar return policy, you can always get a refund or exchange if they don‘t work out.
Life is too short for bad undies, so go ahead and slip into something a little more joyful with MeUndies. Your bum will thank you!
