Sheex Sheets Review: Are These Performance Sheets Worth It?
If you‘re on the hunt for the perfect set of sheets to help you get your best night‘s sleep, you‘ve probably come across Sheex. This premium bedding brand has made a name for itself with its innovative "performance" sheets designed to help regulate temperature, wick away moisture, and provide a super soft and comfortable sleeping experience.
But with luxury sheets come luxury prices, leaving many wondering if Sheex sheets are actually worth the hype and cost. As someone who has tested many different sheet sets over the years in my quest for the ideal bedding, I decided to give Sheex a try for myself. Keep reading for my in-depth and honest Sheex sheets review and find out if these sheets are truly the stuff that dreams are made of.
Overview of Sheex
Before we dive into the detailed product review, let‘s start with some background on the Sheex brand. Sheex was founded in 2007 by two women‘s basketball coaches, Michelle Marciniak and Susan Walvius. As coaches and athletes, they were very familiar with the advanced performance fabrics being used in athletic clothing and gear. They loved how these moisture-wicking, breathable, and stretchy materials helped optimize performance.
This gave them the idea – what if they could harness those same performance fabric technologies, but for sheets and bedding? And so, Sheex was born, with the mission to help people "sleep fit" and engineer a better night‘s sleep.
Since then, Sheex has expanded its line to include sheets, pillows, comforters, duvet covers, mattress pads, sleepwear and more – all designed with the latest textile innovations to promote a cooler, drier and more comfortable sleep environment. Over the years, Sheex has built up a devoted following and earned extensive media coverage everywhere from The Huffington Post to ESPN.
Key Features of Sheex Sheets
Now that you have some context on the brand behind the sheets, let‘s take a closer look at what makes Sheex sheets so unique. The key to Sheex‘s performance bedding lies in their signature Sleep Fit Technology fabrics.
Unlike traditional cotton sheets, Sheex utilizes advanced technical fabrics engineered with a unique blend of materials like polyester, spandex, and more. While the exact makeup varies between product lines, all of the brand‘s sheets and bedding are designed with these core features in mind:
Cooling + Breathability
Hot sleepers rejoice – Sheex sheets are constructed with a breathable circular-knit structure to provide enhanced airflow and ventilation all night long. Select collections like the Midnight Label also include cooling minerals embedded directly in the fibers for an instant cooling sensation.
Moisture-Wicking
Sheex‘s technical fabrics are designed to quickly pull sweat and moisture away from your skin and disperse it across the surface of the sheet where it can evaporate more easily. This helps prevent that sticky, damp feeling you can get with traditional sheets.
Stretch and Fit
Hate when your sheets slip off the bed or bunch up around you? Sheex sheets are super stretchy to provide a smooth, snug fit on any mattress size or height. The fitted sheets feature an "athletic grade" elastic band to keep everything in place, even if you toss and turn.
Wrinkle-Resistant
Thanks to the high-performance fabric blends, Sheex sheets maintain a smooth appearance wash after wash without the need for ironing. Less time fussing with sheets equals more time for sleeping!
Sheex Sheet Collections Reviewed
Now that we‘ve covered the key features that define the Sheex difference, let‘s take a closer look at how some of the brand‘s top sheet sets actually feel and perform. Sheex currently offers its sheets in four main collections:
Original Performance Sheets Review
Best For: The O.G. Sheex experience
Price: $$$
Rating: 4.5/5
The Original Performance sheets are Sheex‘s signature set and still one of their most popular. Made of 87% polyester and 13% spandex, these were designed to feel silky-smooth and slightly slick like athletic fabrics. They definitely have that instantly cool-to-the-touch feeling when you slide into them.
After a few nights on these sheets, I could see why people love them. They have an addictively soft and smooth texture while still feeling very lightweight and airy. The fabric seemed to do a great job at temperature regulation – I tend to sleep hot but never once woke up sweaty or uncomfortable on these. The generous stretch and snug fit of the sheets was another big plus.
My only minor complaint is that Sheex‘s Original fabric has a bit of a sheen to it, which not everyone may love from an aesthetic standpoint. It doesn‘t look quite like your average matte bedding. But it‘s a small trade-off for how great they feel. I‘m now a devoted fan of the Original Performance set and can‘t imagine going back to regular cotton sheets!
Midnight Label Sheets Review
Best For: Hot sleepers wanting max cooling
Price: $$$$
Rating: 4/5
For those willing to splurge on the ultimate cooling sheets, Sheex‘s Midnight Label is the most advanced set in their cooling line. These feature all of the baseline Sheex features like moisture-wicking and 4-way stretch, plus their exclusive "Triple Chill Effect" technology.
The Midnight Label sheets are made with a special blend of cooling minerals embedded directly in the fibers, which Sheex says is clinically proven to create a noticeable reduction in skin temperature. They also have a unique "ice-cool" finish that gives them an almost slippery smooth feel.
After testing these out myself, I can confirm that the Midnight Label fabric feels noticeably cooler than other sheets I‘ve tried. Slipping into them almost feels like jumping into a pleasantly chilly pool on a hot day. Throughout the night, they maintained that cool, crisp feeling, even for someone like me who tends to overheat.
I only knocked off one star for these because of the price – at nearly $300 for a queen set, these are definitely a luxury purchase that won‘t be practical for everyone. The feel of the Midnight Label fabric is also extremely smooth and slick, even more so than the Original Performance. While I loved it, I could see it being an acquired taste for some. But if budget isn‘t an issue and you‘re a hot sleeper wanting the absolute max in cooling, you can‘t beat Sheex‘s Midnight Label.
Studio Tech Sheets Review
Best For: Soft, cashmere-like feel
Price: $$$
Rating: 4/5
On the opposite end of the texture spectrum from Sheex‘s Original and Midnight Label fabrics are the Studio Tech sheets. Rather than a silky-slick feel, these have an incredibly soft and plush texture that Sheex describes as "cashmere-like."
The Studio Tech sheets still utilize performance knit fabrics (made of 90% polyester and 10% spandex) to deliver the core Sheex benefits like breathability, stretch and moisture-wicking. But they undergo an additional brushing process to give them more of a velvety, fuzzy surface feel.
I‘m a sucker for all things soft, so these really won me over. They feel cloud-like and cozy without being heavy, and have just the right amount of stretch and thickness. Like with Sheex‘s other fabrics, I stayed perfectly comfortable all night long with no overheating.
If you love the idea of athletic performance fabrics but prefer something that feels more traditionally soft, plush and luxurious, the Studio Tech sheets are the perfect choice. My only complaint is that they seemed to grab onto hair and lint a bit more than Sheex‘s silkier fabrics. But overall, I loved the dreamy, cashmere-like feel.
Sheex Sheets Pros and Cons
To sum up my personal experience, here are the main pros and cons I found with Sheex sheets:
Pros

– Moisture-wicking fabrics keep you dry
– Lightweight and breathable
– Super soft and comfortable, with unique texture options
– Great stretch and "stay-put" fit on the bed
– Wrinkle-resistant for easy care
Cons
– Pricey compared to traditional cotton sheets
– Silky, slick texture of some fabrics may be an acquired taste

– Can snag hair/lint more easily with brushed fabrics
What Customers Are Saying
Of course, these are only my personal opinions – so I also scoured through dozens of other Sheex sheets reviews online to see what other customers had to say. Across multiple retail sites, the average rating for Sheex sheets was between 4 and 5 stars, with the vast majority of reviewers raving about their experience.
The most commonly mentioned pros were how soft and lightweight the sheets felt, and how great they were at keeping people cool and sweat-free throughout the night. Several hot sleepers said Sheex allowed them to finally get a full night‘s rest without waking up drenched. Customers also praised the high quality construction, snug fit, and wrinkle resistance.
On the negative side, the most common complaints seem to be around the feel of the fabric. A small percentage of reviewers said they didn‘t like the slick, synthetic feel, or that the sheets were too thin for their liking. Price also came up as a sticking point for some given that Sheex sheets are undoubtedly a splurge compared to budget sheet sets. Finally, a few people noted issues with the sheets pilling or snagging over time.
Overall though, the reviews seem to echo my positive experience – Sheex has clearly earned their stellar reputation and devoted fan following for good reason! They may not be for everyone on a tight budget, but if you‘re willing to invest in a great set of comfortable and cooling sheets, Sheex definitely fits the bill for most.
Pricing and Value
As I mentioned, Sheex sheets are definitely pricier than your run-of-the-mill cotton or microfiber bedding. Prices vary a bit between the different collections, but you can generally expect to pay around $200 on average for a queen sheet set.
Compared to other high-end bedding brands, Sheex falls somewhere in the middle of the luxury pack. They‘re less expensive than uber-premium sheets from brands like Frette or Sferra, but more of an investment than "affordable luxury" disruptors like Brooklinen or Parachute.
So, are Sheex sheets worth it? Ultimately, only you can decide how much you‘re willing to spend for a great night‘s sleep. If you have the budget for it, I personally think Sheex‘s unique performance fabrics and thoughtful design details do justify the higher price tag. The advanced textile technology truly makes a difference in the sleep experience and there‘s no denying the quality of Sheex‘s product.
That said, if you‘re not totally sure Sheex is right for you, the brand does offer free shipping and a generous 60-day trial period. If you don‘t love your sheets, you can return them within that window for a full refund. Sheex also offers regular sales and seasonal promotions, so you can often snag a set for up to 25% off if your timing is right.
The Bottom Line
After many nights of blissful sleep on my Sheex sheets, I can confidently say that this brand lives up to the hype. Their innovative performance fabrics and focus on technical design details truly elevate the sheet game and make for a noticeably cool, comfortable and dryer sleep experience.
While Sheex sheets aren‘t the least expensive option out there, I think they‘re a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to upgrade their bedding to something more luxurious. I especially recommend Sheex for hot sleepers, athletes, or anyone who simply appreciates the finer things when it comes to their nightly shut-eye.
The different fabric options (silky vs. brushed) offer some great variety so you can choose your ideal texture and feel. And little touches like the super-snug fit and wrinkle resistance show Sheex‘s attention to detail.
If you‘re ready to trade up for a truly dreamy set of sheets, I say go ahead and treat yourself to some Sheex! Your well-rested self will thank you in the morning.
