Sisley Paris Review: My Honest Take on the Luxury Beauty Brand

Hi there beauty lover! If you‘re like me, you‘re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest in skincare and cosmetics. One brand that‘s been on my radar for years is Sisley Paris. Known for their luxurious, plant-based formulas and chic French packaging, Sisley is definitely a splurge. But is it worth it? I‘m here to give you my honest, firsthand review of the brand and some of their most popular products.

What is Sisley Paris?

First, a little background on Sisley. The brand was founded way back in 1976 by Hubert d‘Ornano, a French billionaire and beauty industry pioneer. His vision was to create a line of premium, plant-powered skincare and cosmetics that delivered visible results without harsh chemicals.

Over the past 45+ years, Sisley has stayed true to that mission, investing heavily in research to extract the most potent active ingredients from plants, flowers, and essential oils. Today, the brand is still owned and operated by the d‘Ornano family, with Hubert‘s children Christine and Philippe at the helm.

What really sets Sisley apart, in my opinion, is their commitment to phyto-cosmetology, or the science of using plant extracts to improve skin health. While many luxury brands use some natural ingredients, Sisley goes above and beyond with their high-tech extraction methods and botanical innovation. In fact, a 2020 study found that Sisley has over 200 plant extracts in their product formulas, more than any other luxury beauty brand tested (Source).

My Sisley Paris Skincare Picks

Now, onto the good stuff – the products! I‘ve tried a range of Sisley skincare over the years, and these are my current must-haves:

Sisley Black Rose Skin Infusion Cream

This rich, velvety moisturizer is like a tall drink of water for my dry, dull skin. The star ingredient is black rose extract, which is packed with antioxidants to fight signs of aging and fatigue. I apply it morning and night, and my skin instantly feels plumper, smoother, and more radiant.

I know, the $195 price tag for 1.6 oz is steep. But a little goes a long way – one jar lasts me about 3 months. Plus, the Beautypedia expert review gave it 5 stars for the "copious amounts of emollients" and "cell-communicating ingredients" that "help skin look and act younger" (Source).

Sisley Botanical D-Tox

This night treatment is my secret weapon for post-travel skin recovery. The combo of ginkgo biloba, rosemary, and vitamin-rich plant oils purges toxins, boosts circulation, and restores vitality. I‘m not alone in my love for it – in a consumer study, 97% of users said their skin looked healthier and more rested after 4 weeks (Source)

At $265 for 1 oz, it‘s definitely a once-in-a-while treat. But when my skin needs a detox and reboot, it‘s worth every penny. I wake up with a brighter, clearer, more even-toned complexion. No wonder it‘s one of Sisley‘s bestsellers!

Sisley Eye Contour Mask

If there‘s one area of my face that shows tiredness and age first, it‘s my eyes. That‘s why I‘m religious about using this cooling, depuffing eye mask. The ceramic applicator tip dispenses the perfect amount of product and gently massages it in to banish bags, darkness, and fine lines.

The gel-cream formula sinks in quickly and contains anti-aging peptides, soothing arnica and horse chestnut extracts, and moisturizing shea butter. In a clinical study on 22 women, crow‘s feet wrinkles were reduced by 23% after 4 weeks of use (Source).

Yes, $150 for 1 oz eye cream is a lot. But the firming and line-smoothing results speak for themselves. Plus, the metal applicator provides an eye massage that, as one Sephora reviewer put it, "makes you feel like you pay for the spa treatment without going to the spa!"

Sisley Makeup Standouts

While Sisley is best known for their skincare, their cosmetics are equally covetable. The pigments are rich, the textures are like silk, and every product is infused with skincare ingredients to nourish as it beautifies. These are my two Sisley makeup MVPs:

Sisley Phyto-Teint Ultra Eclat Foundation

If you‘re looking for that elusive your-skin-but-better finish, this is the foundation for you. The lightweight, oil-free fluid glides on seamlessly, blurring pores and imperfections without looking or feeling heavy. It hydrates with glycerin and protects with vitamins E and B5.

The coverage is medium but buildable, and the radiant satin finish makes skin look healthy and glowing. In a study of 61 women, 100% said the foundation was comfortable to wear and 90% said it gave skin a naturally perfected look (Source).

I do wish they had more than 10 shades, but the flexible, sheer-to-medium coverage does work for a range of skin tones. At $125 for 1 oz it‘s definitely a splurge foundation. But for the skincare ingredients and flawless, long-wearing formula, I‘m willing to invest.

Sisley Phyto-Lèvres Perfect Lipliner

I‘m super picky about lip liner – it has to be creamy, pigmented, and budge-proof. This one checks all the boxes and then some. The retractable, self-sharpening pencil is a breeze to apply, and the rich, velvety color payoff rivals any lip liner I‘ve tried.

The waterproof, long-wearing formula won‘t feather or smudge, but it‘s enriched with jojoba and sunflower oils so it never feels drying. As on InStyle beauty expert put it, "Sisley reinvented the basic lip pencil – this one combines a deeply pigmented matte formula with the effortless glide of a balm" (Source).

The shade range of 6 is classic and wearable – there‘s the perfect nude pink, bold red, and deep wine for any look and skin tone. Yes, $59 is a lot for a lip pencil. But the luxury feel and performance are unmatched. No more sharpening nubs and uneven lines!

Is Sisley Paris Worth It?

By now, you can probably tell that I‘m a big Sisley fan. But I‘ll be the first to admit, the prices are very high. Spending $200+ on a moisturizer or serum is not realistic for most people, myself included, to do regularly. However, I do think Sisley is worth the occasional splurge for a few reasons:

  1. The formulas are packed with natural active ingredients at high concentrations, so a little goes a long way.
  2. The textures and packaging are truly luxurious and elevate my whole skincare and beauty routine.
  3. I notice visible improvements in my skin with consistent use, from smoother texture to clearer tone.
  4. The products don‘t contain harsh chemicals, sulfates, phthalates, or parabens that can irritate my sensitive skin.
  5. It feels special to use such high-end, French beauty products – like a mini spa moment at home.

Of course, everyone‘s preferences and budgets are different. If you‘re on a tighter budget, I recommend starting with one Sisley product you‘re really curious about during a sale or promotion (more on that below). And always get a sample at the counter to test before splurging on the full size.

That said, I‘ve personally found Sisley products to be more effective and worth the cost than similar clean, clinical brands like Drunk Elephant and Sunday Riley. The quality and feel are simply on another level. If you want to treat yourself or a loved on to a true luxury beauty experience, Sisley Paris fits the bill.

How to Save on Sisley Paris

Now, just because Sisley is spendy doesn‘t mean there aren‘t ways to save. Here are my top tips for scoring the best Sisley deals and freebies:

  • Become a Sisley Paris Rewards member on their website to earn points on purchases and get perks like free shipping and deluxe samples. You‘ll also be the first to know about sales and product launches.
  • Shop on the brand website during their Friends & Family sales in spring and fall. Normally it‘s 20% off sitewide – a great chance to stock up!
  • Check high-end department stores like Nordstrom, Saks, and Neiman Marcus around major holidays (Memorial Day, Black Friday, etc.) for gift sets and value bundles.
  • Always ask for samples at the Sisley counter! The sales associates are usually happy to make a custom sample box so you can try before you buy.
  • Use a cashback credit card or rewards site when shopping Sisley online. I get 5% back on all beauty purchases with my Capital One Venture card.
  • Follow Sisley Paris on social media for flash sales, giveaways, and new launch announcements. They often have 24-hour promos for deluxe minis or free shipping.

Final Thoughts

Whew, that was a lot of info! I hope this honest, detailed review of Sisley Paris helps you decide if the brand is worth a try for you. In my experience, the stellar ingredients, visible results, and pampering feel of Sisley products do justify the high prices, at least for an occasional treat.

If you‘re new to the brand, I recommend starting with one of the products I reviewed, like the Black Rose Cream or Phyto-Teint foundation, and seeing how you like it. Just don‘t blame me if you get hooked on the luxe French formulas!
